Hi, I'm Anastasiya

Bee & Pollen

Did you know Valentine’s Day has quite a dark origin…

I recently read an article from NPR talking about the origin of Valentine’s Day, and this is what it said.

So supposedly, the ancient Romans may be responsible for our modern-day V-Day, ” Emperor Claudius II executed two men — both named Valentine — on Feb. 14 of different years in the third century. Their martyrdom was honored by the Catholic Church with the celebration of St. Valentine’s Day.”

Til death do us part, right?

Well, regardless of the origin, today Valentine’s Day is either loved or hated…depending on who you ask.

Nonetheless, as the subtle romantic that I am, I like to look at V-Day as an extra day to go all out for the people I love most. It’s simply a day to show extra affection to the people who make life better for us by showering them with love, and in my favorite way…gifts.

Naturally, I love everything cute, pink and red, fluffy, and sweet…you know, like stuffed animals, Forera Rocher, cards, and flowers. So having a day where I can freely give is a dream for me.

I truly LOVE the entire process of gift-giving: paying attention to what someone has their eye on, planning the gifts out months in advance, buying or making them, wrapping them, finding the perfect card, writing my heart out, decorating the envelope, and then finally delivering the gift.

If I could buy, wrap, and deliver gifts as a full-time job, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Anyway, if you’re reading this then you also must be on the hunt for a gift for your honey…

That’s very sweet of you, I’m sure anything you get them is going to be lovely!

But, if you’re struggling with finding something of value, meaning, or just something they’ll like, then I hope my gift guide can give you some guidance on what to get.

And just remember, the greatest gift of all is your time and presence…everything else is a cherry on top.

Classic Jewelry, With a Twist

Who doesn’t love something that comes in a sweet little red or blue box, eh?

Whether or not you’re stopping by Tiffany & Co. or Cartier, jewelry is a special gift that can be kept forever and ever and then passed down through generations. It’s not just something pretty to wear, it can represent eternal love. Or, be an emblem of beauty, just like the person you love.

Now, your person may or may not wear jewelry or have a particular preference for the type or style. So in this case, try to get an idea of something they would like either based on what they already have, or take them to a store to see what they gravitate towards, or just ask them to show you pictures of pieces that they love.

Here Are Some of My Personal Favorites:

  1. Rock n Rose
  2. Swarovski
  3. Brilliant Earth

Flowers, Chocolate, and Books

I know you wanna be extra romantic today, so go ahead to your local florist, chocolate shop, and bookstore, and take some time to personalize each of these items.

This is the perfect gift for anyone in your world that you want to show a little love for. It’s simple enough to find anywhere but still gives you ample opportunity to personalize.

For example, if it were me, I would find flowers that reminded me of the person I’m giving them to. For a lover, depending on their personality I’d either go with classic red or white roses or create my own bouquet at a florist. A single-stem rose or flower is also a beautiful idea.

If You’re In The Denver Area, Here Are 3 Florists That Always Have Something I Love:

  1. Bonnie Brae Flowers
  2. Bloom By Anuschka
  3. Bee & Pollen

By the way, if your person doesn’t care for flowers, get them a plant. Why not?

With the chocolates, I’d find a local chocolatier or bakery to find something extra special, or local stores usually always have a great range of chocolate to choose from.

Oh, your local florist may also sell chocolates, so look out for that.

Here Are My Go-To Chocolate Shops:

  1. Coco Gusto
  2. Godiva
  3. World Market

As for the books, what’s better to finish off the trifecta than with books from their favorite author, or my personal favorite for a day like this, poetry books?

Wherever you are in the world, head to your favorite bookstore and find 1-3 books that your person would love to unwrap and read.

If You Need Some Ideas, Here Are a Few Recommendations

  1. Nikita Gill – Fierce Fairytales: Poems and Stories to Stir Your Soul
  2. Happy Place + It Ends With Us + The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
  3. A Court of Thorns and Roses
  4. P.S. I Love You + One Day
  5. Jojo MoyesMe Before You, Still Me, and Still Me

Give ‘Em What They Really Want: Béis

Okay, maybe it’s just me who will always ask for Béis for any kind of occasion, but if I’m being honest, it’s the perfect gift for literally anyone on your list…

They’ve got the best neutral colors that’ll fit anyone’s sense of style, plus unique colors that your one-of-a-kind friends, family, and lovers will adore.

I mean, everyone needs luggage, so why not upgrade their current set? Or get something to push them to dream more about traveling the world…

Here Are My Personal Favorites:

These are just my top favorites, but every single product is amazing.

The Trio: Perfume, Flowers, and Card + Smooch

If you’re looking for the complete package, this is it.

A nice perfume, a beautiful bouquet, a sweet card, and a smooch…perfection.

Gifting a perfume or cologne is a special gift because it’s not only personal to each individual but any time it’s worn, that person will inevitably think of you.

Plus, that scent will last with your person forever, so whenever they smell it, they’ll always remember you and the memories you shared together.

Perfume Recommendations:

Cologne Recommendations:

At the end of the day, anything you gift will be appreciated, especially if you’ve put some thought into it…

Love is meant to be shared and shown in all shapes and sizes, so never worrry if your gift is too much or too little. There’s no such thing as too much when it comes to truly showing your love to someone, at least in my opinion.

Have the most wonderful day filled with peace, love, and laughter!

Love,

Anastasiya
