I love makeup.
It’s my time to be a scientist and a painter, and I am the canvas.
Makeup is wonderful because the point is not to cover up, it’s to illuminate.
Illuminate the special features that we love.
Or, it’s a chance to just play with colors and shimmer and products that make us giddy with excitement to use.
Either way, we love it.
And that’s why you’re here with me…
To see which products I used for one of my favorite everyday looks with a pop of purple shimmer.
By the way, is it impossible for you not to apply shimmer every day like me?
Sometimes I attempt a matte look…
But then I always feel like something is missing.
And you know what, daytime makeup does not mean boring.
You can still spice it up no matter what you’ve got going on.
It’s your preference, so let yourself have fun!
Lets get into the details of this look.
The Hydrated Base
I want a glowy, medium-coverage base so you know we’re going to highlight the skincare steps first.
YOU MUST.
A proper, hydrated base is going to give you a better canvas to layer your makeup products on, always.
I also live in a dry climate, so I take extra steps to ensure my skin is ready for makeup, especially mattifying foundation.
HOT TIP: Wait a few minutes to let your skincare sink in before you apply your makeup.
Here Are 5 Skincare Products I Use Before Makeup Application:
- Toner – Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner
- Face Oil – Argon Oil
- Lotion – First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair® Cream Intense Hydration
- Lip Scrub – Lush Mint Julips
- Lip Balm – Vaseline Cocoa Butter or LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask Intense Hydration with Vitamin C
If you also live in a dry climate, I recommend using a facial steamer to add humidy and moisture to the air as you apply your makeup.
Next Stop: Glow City
With hydrating skincare products, that’ll give you an effortless, natural glow.
I am obsessed with glow so I love to mix a bit of Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40 Sunscreen with Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide with the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Medium Coverage Liquid Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid.
I like to apply foundation with my Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Foundation Brush and then blend with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Makeup Blending Sponge.
Don’t forget to blend your foundation down to your neck. We gotta make sure everything melts together.
Let’s Layer
I tried the new Fenty Beauty We’re Even Hydrating Longwear Waterproof Concealer and my goodness, it’s my new favorite concealer. It gives great coverage, blends like magic, and so creamy.
Next, I apply the Rare Beauty Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick, then blend it out with my Fenty Beauty Cheek Hugging Bronzer Brush 190. I love this brush, it makes me so happy to use it.
Onto blush. My blush is pretty subtle in this look when blended out, but I used the Patrick Ta Major Headline Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo, then the NARS Talc-Free Powder Blush in Dolce Vita.
The Eyes
For this look, I used the NARS Laguna Talc-Free Bronzer Powder as my base (you can use any neutral shade of brown), then blended in the shade Astral Amethyst Moon from the Pat McGrath Labs Mothership IX Eyeshadow Palette: Huetopian Dream.
And yes, the entire palette is a delicious dream.
I blend my eyeshadow with two brushes: the Morphe M453 Crease Blending Shadow Brush and the Morphe M173 Mini Buffer Complexion Brush.
Then, I use my favorite L’Oréal Paris Superstar Mascara. I love that it’s a primer and mascara.
Truly fabulous.
The Lips, Darling.
Finding the right shade of a lip product is important when using a pop of color on the eyes, we want to make sure the tones makes sense together.
So in this case, I paired the purple with the Charlotte Tilbury Mini Pillow Talk Lipstick & Liner Set in Pillow Talk Medium. Then added a layer of the Lancôme Juicy Tube Original Lip Gloss in Marshmallow Electro.
Finishing Touches
Last but not least, I use the Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Instant Setting + Blotting Powder to absorn shine in my T-Zones, and then add a layer of glow with my go-to everyday highlighter, the Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlighter.
Finale
What do you think, pretty simple, right?
A glowy base with a neutral lip and shimmery, colorful eye is such a lovely way to incorporate pazzaz into your daytime makeup routine.
There’s always a way to keep it subtle, while also standing out.
And if you prefer a bolder eye, do it! Be you.
Love,
Anastasiya
